Introducing BeanSprout

Welcome! I’m excited to announce the launch of BeanSprout - a desktop-first, pay-once bookkeeping app that provides small businesses and non-profits the essentials they need to start organizing their finances. With BeanSprout you can:

Best of all, your data stays on your machine - a local file on your own computer, never uploaded, and the app works fully offline. And you only have to pay for a one-time license: $49 once, covering both macOS and Windows, with no subscription and no per-user fee. Sure, there are accounting SaaS products that offer a free tier, but they save all the good stuff like reporting tags for their paid plans. Not sure if BeanSprout is right for you? We offer a 30-day free trial of the full feature suite.

Who is BeanSprout ideal for?

BeanSprout definitely isn’t for everyone. I created BeanSprout for someone like me - a small business owner and non-profit volunteer treasurer who manages multiple organizations, updates their books and generates reports 1-2 times per month, and sporadically needs to create and send invoices. I’m someone who doesn’t need all the extra features and bloat of a QuickBooks. I also don’t need to have a bank connection to automatically sync transactions or to be able to receive payments through my accounting app. However, I still want a streamlined, modern accounting experience without the expensive subscription.

Who BeanSprout is not for

BeanSprout is probably not right for you if:

If any of the above sound like you, then a subscription to a SaaS accounting app like QuickBooks, Wave, or FreshBooks will be the right choice.

If you’re unsure about whether BeanSprout is a good fit for you, send us a message!
